Brief Overview

Pitch Appointments: Present your idea for a book to an agent so she may represent you, or to an editor so she may publish it. Generally, you have 10 minutes to convince her that your work is something she can’t pass up. If interested, she will ask you to send a portion of your manuscript to review.

Manuscript Critique: Manuscript critiques take longer as the professional reads a certain number of manuscript pages beforehand and will meet with you to offer suggestions to improve it. They discuss characters, plot, point of view, audience, and a host of writing points.

Book Proposal: The proposal and query are written first contacts with the publisher. The attendee's query/proposal will be reviewed by a professional. The pro will give advice and suggestions to improve the proposal/query to help you make a good professional impression and to help market your writing.
